More Finnish stupidity

”I can’t believe that 50 years ago, Finland helped so few refugees”, Piamaria says we’ll be saying in 2055. Today an Iranian Kurdish woman was denied asylum. She has no reason to stay, the authorities say, never minding that she fled from an arranged marriage and expects to be persecuted and tortured if she goes back. I’ve written about these things before. The Finnish government officials tap themselves on the back for having ”succeeded” in the migration policy, as hardly anyone wants to seek asylum here anymore. I’m kind of thinking that anyone who is desperate enough to seek refuge in this, of all countries, should get to stay at once.
And totally irrelevant, this morning I walked into a teacher’s lounge only to hear a colleague telling a racist joke (something infantile about chocolate pastries and black people). Upon seeing me, she stopped herself, saying: ”Oops, I’d better not say anything, she’s here”. Now, this is the 21st century.
