True democracy and less meat

I decided to postpone Palestine, just a bit, in order to make better safety arrangements. Have a ticket for next week instead.
I know this is already old news, Russia’s president Putin saying that he is the only true democrat left, and that he has no one to talk to now that Gandhi is dead. But I just saw a poster that made me laugh. It was the little Helsinki-based travel agent specialized in bargain-trips to Russia and the Baltics, Zerkalo, that had used this statement in their ad. It says: Koe Venäjän Demokratia (Try Russian Democracy). Excellent, Zerkalo!
The other thing for today is this report on meat-eating and the climate, by MEP Jens Holm and Toivo Jokkala. The bottom line is that vegetarian food is far more energy-efficient than meat, and a tax on meat is proposed. It’s an interesting read. When I asked a guy called Pete what we will be saying in the future, he answered: ”Can’t believe that 50 years ago, in 2005, people ate meat”. Wonder if he will be right.
