Veils off and we’re all safe

Tove, an actual wedding singer, thinks we will be saying something like this in 2055: ”I can’t believe that 50 years ago, in 2005, people in the West were so scared of Muslim attackers”.
A populist party leader from Denmark is called Pia Kjærsgaard. A few days ago she had a new vision for her country; she wants to ban veils from the whole Danish society, starting with schools and other institutions. Crosses and Jewish kippahs are okey, she says. (Article, in Danish, here) The reason is that all kinds of veils, according to her, are signs of oppression. Veil-wearers are oppressed.
I think everyone should choose their clothes themselves. Why does this politician think a ban of veils is what her country needs? Is it the way of the 21st century, to legislate on clothing? I think she is scared of people who don’t look or dress like her, and she surely knows she has supporters when she says things like this.
I would like to see Kjærsgaard move to a country where no one wears pants. Whenever she left the house with pants on people would say she’s oppressed and she would be looked down upon. Then there would be politicians there wanting to ban the use of pants so that she could finally be liberated, and so that the country could feel safe again.
