Welcome! Imagine that 50 years ago, around 1955, there was no real charter tourism, there were different seats for whites and blacks in buses in the USA and people would smoke in movie theatres. Now imagine it is the year 2055 and we’re discussing how the world has changed in the last 50 years. Come up with an ending to the phrase: “Imagine that 50 years ago, in the year 2005 …”

In short, it’s all about how are we going to talk about the beginning of the 21st century in 50 years! I posed the question to friends and random people during 2005 and 2006. The answers fascinated me. Most people gave me all-new and unimaginable answers. Some showed up a little more frequently (imagine that we used fossile fuels, that the US invaded Iraq and that homosexuals had such few rights) while some where really unpredictable. There were positive and negative views. Some were really concrete (imagine that we would buy paper tickets at the train station) and others really abstract (imagine that we thought we could solve conflicts using violence).
